5 Signs Your Business Website Needs a Redesign

1 October 2025

Most business owners know their website "feels" outdated before they can explain exactly why. Here are five concrete signs worth checking before you decide whether you need a redesign, or just a few fixes.

1. It doesn't work properly on a phone

Open your own site on your phone and try to complete the action you most want a customer to take — book a call, send an enquiry, find your address. If you have to pinch, zoom or scroll sideways to do it, so does every customer who finds you on mobile.

2. It takes more than a few seconds to load

A slow site doesn't just frustrate visitors — it's also worked against by Google's own ranking systems. If your homepage feels sluggish on your own connection, it will feel worse on a customer's mobile data.

3. You can't update it yourself

If changing a phone number, price or opening hours means calling a developer and waiting days, the site is costing you more than its original build price in lost flexibility.

4. The design doesn't match how your business looks today

Logos get refreshed, offerings expand, and photography improves — but websites often don't keep up. If your printed materials or social media look more current than your website, that mismatch is visible to customers comparing the two.

5. It doesn't clearly say what to do next

Look at your homepage with fresh eyes: is it obvious, within a few seconds, what you want a visitor to do? If the call to action is buried below several paragraphs of text, you're likely losing visitors who simply give up before reaching it.

What to do next

Not every one of these requires a full rebuild — some are content or configuration fixes. If you're not sure which applies to you, send us your website and we'll give you a straight answer, including telling you if a redesign isn't actually necessary yet.
